Filmmaking Workshop Summer 2018
Filmmaking Workshop
Teaching Artist: Darren Alexander Cole
The summer 2018 filmmaking workshop led by our filmmaker in residence, Darren Cole, was a digital motion picture focused project where students came up with the idea of making a singular film made up of chapters that each student would create themselves. Inspired by visiting artist Devvrat Mishra’s short film, Chronicles, the workshop participants wanted to take on a similar format to their film, allowing each student to have their own space to visually communicate what the idea of home means to them.
Cole led each students through the basics of different capture devices, the different techniques for how to edit video, and simple ways to problem solve learning curves that are presented by new technology.
In collaboration with Alexander Barsov’s music production workshop, the final product resulted in the film, “Home”.
