Youth Artist Project: “Remember, Reflect, Reimagine: Illustration for Spatial Justice”
Yuko Okabe (she/they) is an illustrator, cultural worker and storyteller with a passion for publishing, social justice, community engaged art, and youth empowerment.
Their recent projects include Community is a Garden with Pao Arts Center, Community Artist Rights with Enterprise Community Partners, and Rinse and Repeat Together 冲洗 + 一起重复 with Chinatown Story Cart & ACDC.
As an Artist in Residence at Urbano Project, Yuko will work with Youth Artists in “Remember, Reflect, Reimagine: Illustration for Spatial Justice” to explore illustration as a mindful method to observe, document, and envision healthy, equitable public spaces. Students will create illustrations based on public spaces in Boston, and a collective map of our city’s community.
