WANDERING IN THE LAND OF OBLIVION
Teaching Artist: Constanza Aguirre
The Wandering is the displacement in space and time of thousands of individuals. This gives rise to a loss; a loss of references, the loss of knowledge, trades, and a loss of history. This wandering can only be reclaimed through creating as a process of individuation. Through work -- where work is taken as an action, and individuals are recognized as creators-- these creators build their world through specific and emancipating actions.
This project will use drawing as an attempt to show a humanity that is often ignored. Students will work with a professional Teaching Artist. The Youth Artist Project will center around themes of labor, identity and displacement.
The end product will be a collaborative exhibition that consists of a series of drawings and other media that students may be interested in exploring, such as collage, photography and video.
