POW! Radical Care in Clay is taught by Teaching Artist Hannah Niswonger. She is the founding director of Pots On Wheels! (POW!), an education and outreach project focused on sustaining creativity through collaborative ceramic programming.

This 8-week drawing and ceramics course explores radical care while introducing techniques of applying images to clay.

Projects include a variety of direct drawing techniques, and transfer printing, decal making, and using stencils. Youth artists will explore visual storytelling and collaboration through the influences of pop-art, graffiti art, and comic book art while working together on a series of stories on ceramic tiles and hand-built pottery. This virtual class provides an introduction to ceramic materials and processes. We’ll meet several artists who use the techniques we are studying in their own work. As part of our practice, we will collaborate with each other and share our work with members of the broader community.

This program is offered as a collaboration between Urbano Project and Pots On Wheels! (POW!)
