Urbano Project is a community arts non-profit that brings together artists, youth, and community members to learn and experiment with public and participatory art projects as a way to foster personal transformation, community care, and social justice. We foster public and participatory art as a vehicle for personal transformation, community care and social change. Our projects consist of Artists-in-Residence, Youth Projects, Community Art Projects, and Workshops all of which intersect around an annual curatorial theme.
Job description:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Programs Assistant to join our team and contribute to the successful implementation of our programs. The Programs Assistant will play a pivotal role in providing administrative, logistical, and operational support to our various program initiatives.
This role will be best suited for a highly creative individual with a demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity, and justice (DEIJ), who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, taking initiative, and supporting multiple projects simultaneously. This is an opportunity for an energetic and adaptable professional to significantly impact the growth of a small, youth and social-justice focused arts organization and its vibrant community.
Tasks/Duties:
(Reports to Programs Manager)
Responsibilities:
Support the Programs Manager to coordinate program logistics, including scheduling, venue arrangements, and the participant application process.
Attend weekly online team meetings
Be present and represent Urbano during the program sessions (4-7pm), field trips, and final events (some Saturdays), to welcome participants, update their attendance and assist the Artist in Residence who will be teaching the program.
Assist in communication with program participants, partners, collaborators, and stakeholders to ensure clear and effective information exchange.
Support the documentation of program activities, including taking minutes during meetings, tracking progress, photographing, and maintaining records.
Help plan and execute events, workshops, and final events, coordinating event logistics and ensuring a seamless experience for participants.
Contribute to data collection, organization, and analysis, for program evaluations, reports, and impact assessments.
Provide assistance and support to program participants, addressing inquiries and ensuring a positive participant experience.
Support the team members to ensure programs are aligned with organizational goals and effectively meet objectives.
Assist in program outreach and promotion efforts through various channels to engage a wider audience.
Handle ad hoc administrative tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of Programs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in arts, education, or equivalent
Minimum 1 year of experience working in the arts sector, preferably in arts education, creative youth development, or social justice work
Demonstrated experience working with youth aged 14-19 and inter-generational community participants.
Demonstrated passion for the arts, community engagement, and social justice.
Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Google Workspace.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
Compensation and Commitment:
Pay for this position is $25/hour, for an average of 15-20 hours per week. We are looking for someone who is available Monday throughThursday afternoons (4-7pm) to assist our program classes on locations throughout Boston (we always work from locations that are accessible by public transportation) and who has availability to work some Saturdays for events and field trips.
