Cumulus
an intergenerational artist workshop hosted by former student, Jassi Murad
February 2025

About the Program:
A cumulus is a cloud formation; a collection of water vapor unfolding into and onto itself. In this sensory-based workshop on creative embodiment, guided language, metaphor, and nature speak, Jassi Murad invited participants to use their body in responding and unfolding into its ‘path of least resistance.’ The search was for space, elevation, and possibility; the workshop was composed of discussion, solitary practices, and group exercises.
It was held Sunday, February 16th from 4:00-6:00 at the Foundry’s Dance Space as a part of its week-long family festival of free program.
About the Artist:
Urbano alumnus, Jassi Murad, is an inter-disciplinary dance artivist, healer, teacher and student. Native to Jerusalem, Palestine, they perceive art as a means of peaceful archival resistance, and expression as a tool of healing. Practically, their work seeks intersectional liberation through Somatic Abolition and co-creation of imaginative alternative realities.
We are committed to maintaining a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment for all participants. Every group session will be attended and monitored by an Urbano staff member. At this point, we are not requiring adult participants to complete a CORI check, but please note that this may change and that we are actively assessing the need for this for the safety of youth participants.
